How it works

Drinking alcohol regularly and in relatively large quantities - even every day - is normalized behaviour in many cultures across the world. That glass or two of wine with dinner that becomes the whole bottle; those beers with colleagues on the way home from the office etc. While choice is an important privilege to be protected, and alcohol can certainly be enjoyed as part of a balanced lifestyle, recent research and analyses of the data suggests that even as little as one or two drinks in an evening can have negative effects upon the quality of your sleep, amongst other things. And when your sleep suffers for too long this can have a deleterious effects on other areas of your life. How you choose to balance alcohol intake long term based on the data is up to you, but if you drink on more evenings in the week than not, this experiment urges you to try and have a week off so you can monitor your HRV, RHR and overall sleep data in Gyroscope and compare the findings. In an absence of alcohol, you may expect to see a decreased RHR, an increased HRV and a better sleep score in the morning.
