We’re excited to announce a brand new app in the Gyroscope lineup: Places.

Places has been one of the most popular and easy to use features in Gyroscope since we added it almost ten years ago. Giving it an app of its own has been one of our most requested features, and now it’s here.

Whether you want to explore more of the travel history you’ve already tracked in Gyroscope, or just want a simpler tracker without committing to health coaching, Places has you covered.

Years of feedback and testing have helped us make tracking more accurate while using less battery. You’ll see more precise travel routes, better place detection even in crowded neighborhoods, more options to fine-tune your history, and brand new graphics throughout the app.

Places is now available to download for free in the App Store, in over 50 languages.

The new Places app: a day on the timeline, and the travel passport

Automatic timeline and map of your life

Each day becomes a simple timeline: every stop, how long you were there, and the walk, drive or train ride in between. You live your day, and the record keeps itself.

Planes, trains and automobiles

They say life is about the journey, not the destination. We say: why not track both?

Places automatically captures your routes when you go out. Walking, running, cycling, driving, the subway, ferries and flights are all picked up without you doing anything. If you go for a run with only your watch, that gets merged in too.

At the end of the day the full route is on the map. It works for adventures, for an active lifestyle, and for tracking mileage and time for business.

Every city and country, with stamps

Your global passport keeps track of all the cities and countries you have visited. Each one gets custom graphics and detailed analytics, so you can see exactly where you went.

You can look up exactly when you arrived and left, for visa paperwork, medical forms, tax filings, or simply remembering your favorite trips.

See how you spend your life

We all get 24 hours in a day. Now you can see exactly where it goes. Home, office, gym, cafes, restaurants and thousands of other places are tracked automatically, all in one place and easy to search, review or share.

Low battery, high accuracy

The tracking has been tested and tuned with over ten years of engineering and member feedback. It uses the motion coprocessor in your iPhone, so at home or anywhere you are sitting still, usage is close to zero. No watch, ring or extra device is required.

In your first week, the app asks about your top places, your vehicles and your patterns. After that, tracking becomes mostly automatic. When something is off, you can split a visit, rename a place or create a custom one.

Private by default

Premium memberships make our privacy policy possible: your data is never sold, there are no ads, and you are our only customer. Nothing is shared unless you choose to share it.

The app is free to get started, and everyone gets 30 days of complimentary storage. A premium membership adds unlimited storage in the Gyroscope cloud, so you can keep a lifetime of places and look back for years to come.

The Places Unlimited membership card

If you are currently using the Gyroscope app, Places integrates seamlessly, and your existing account and location history should show up automatically.

If not, you can set up tracking directly in Places and start building your timeline there. It takes about a minute, and no other app or device is needed.

Available today

Places is available now as a free download in the App Store for iPhone, worldwide and in over 50 languages. The complete story of your life, captured carefully and remembered for you, starts the day you install it.
