How it works
Junk food or ultra-processed foods are calorie-dense, not very filling, and void of any real nutritional benefit, making them the perfect food for adding pounds to your waistline. However, they are processed to maximally stimulate your brain (often through high sugar, fat and salt) and can be quite addicting. Break your attachment to these foods by giving them up completely for a week, for both short term and long term benefits. Quite immediately you may see improvements in inflammation, glucose levels, cravings, mood, energy — and in the long term changes in body fat levels, HRV, and many other metrics. Things to avoid include: • Packaged foods with more than 5 ingredients • Meals that don’t have protein and fiber • Food from fast food restaurants • Foods cooked with vegetable oil • Sugar, corn syrup and other sweeteners • Foods that didn’t exist 50 years ago
