How to connect your Garmin Fenix 8 to Gyroscope

Connect Garmin directly so Fenix 8 activity and recovery context can sit beside the rest of your health timeline.

DirectData fit: 4/5

The direct Garmin path fits multisport tracking well, while the optional Apple Health route omits stages and several Garmin-specific metrics.

Applies to: Fenix 7 series, Epix Pro, and Enduro 3.

Short answer

Gyroscope has a direct Garmin integration. Connect it once and your data joins everything else on one timeline, deduplicated against your primary device. Pair Fenix 8 in Garmin Connect with Garmin's official device setup, then add Garmin as a data source in Gyroscope.

What syncs

Fenix 8 tracking is documented in Garmin's official guides for Health Status, sleep, and training. Rows are device capabilities, not a published field list for the direct connection.

Garmin's Apple Health guide is the authority for the optional Apple Health column and its limitations.

That optional transfer is one-way from Garmin Connect to Apple Health and runs after a successful device sync while Garmin Connect is open in the foreground. Garmin includes workout records but not their GPS routes, and its Sleep Analysis handoff provides sleep time without Garmin stage detail. Altitude and several Garmin-specific training measures are not on the published Apple Health list.

None of those fallback limits reveal the field-level contents of Gyroscope's direct Garmin connection. The table instead inventories maker-documented Fenix 8 capabilities and labels Apple Health only where Garmin confirms it. Add the Garmin account for the recommended connection, then keep your everyday watch or other selected device primary so overlapping activity can be deduplicated.

Connect it

  1. In Garmin Connect, open More, choose Garmin Devices, choose Add Device, then Find Nearby Accessories, following Garmin's documented iOS flow.
  2. Put Fenix 8 in pairing mode, choose Set Up when the watch appears, and confirm the six-digit code.
  3. Open Gyroscope and add Garmin as a data source.
  4. Complete the Garmin authorization. If Fenix 8 is your daily activity tracker, choose Garmin as the Gyroscope steps source.

What you get in Gyroscope

Fenix 8 is built for many kinds of training, but the useful dashboard is larger than a workout log. Supported Garmin records can join sleep, food timing, weight, places, productivity, and other sources on one timeline that is deduplicated against your primary device.

Health Score combines heart, sleep, activity, weight, places, computer time, mind, and nutrition signals. For nights with the needed inputs, Sleep Score is built from HRV, resting heart rate, and duration, while Sleep Battery tracks seven nights of quality-weighted sleep debt.

Gyroscope correlations let you compare long efforts or altitude-heavy weeks with sleep and heart patterns. The result can include strength, time lag, rolling-window behavior, top-versus-bottom day differences, outliers, and a trendline.

Insights to try

  • Sleep score after long efforts vs rest days.
  • Resting heart rate during altitude weeks vs normal training weeks.

Use comparable periods with complete coverage. Gyroscope needs at least three varying overlap days before it calculates an A-versus-B relationship. Define long efforts and altitude-heavy weeks consistently before comparing them with sleep or heart patterns. Keep wear time consistent.

Common questions

Why don't my sleep stages show up in Apple Health?

Garmin's Apple Health documentation includes Sleep Analysis but does not include stages. Fenix 8 keeps stage detail in Garmin, while Apple Health receives sleep time.

Does altitude data go through Apple Health?

Garmin does not list altitude or elevation as an Apple Health export in this connection guide. Keep Garmin connected directly and do not depend on Apple Health for Garmin-specific detail.

Why is Apple Health not updating?

Garmin says Connect must be open in the foreground when a successful device sync occurs. This affects the optional Apple Health hop, while the Gyroscope page recommends the direct Garmin connection.

Does the direct integration guarantee every Fenix metric?

No field-level payload has been published. The table states what Fenix 8 tracks and labels the account route without claiming that every metric is transferred directly.
