How to connect your Oura Ring 4 to Gyroscope

Use Gyroscope's direct Oura integration so the ring can join your primary device and other sources on one timeline.

DirectData fit: 5/5

The direct Oura path avoids Apple Health's missing HRV export while preserving Oura as part of the combined dashboard.

Applies to: Oura Ring Gen3 and Gen2 connect the same way.

Short answer

Gyroscope has a direct Oura integration. Connect it once and your data joins everything else on one timeline, deduplicated against your primary device. Set up and sync the ring in the Oura App first, following Oura's official app setup, then add Oura as a data source in Gyroscope.

What syncs

These rows describe what Ring 4 tracks, not a promise that every field is carried by the direct integration. Oura's Ring 4 specifications and Apple Health export list verify the device and optional Apple Health capabilities.

Oura's Apple Health path is optional here. Its official integration article distinguishes Oura-to-Health exports from Health-to-Oura imports and notes that Apple may round values or display them at different intervals. That is why the Apple Health cells describe only the maker-published fallback, while the page recommends the live Oura account connection.

Do not infer an unpublished direct payload from this inventory. The table identifies what Ring 4 measures and where Oura officially confirms an Apple Health write. HRV is the important boundary: Oura measures it, but does not include it in the Apple Health export list. Connecting Oura itself is therefore the honest route for the branded integration, with your primary device retained for deduplication.

Connect it

  1. Download the Oura App, sign in or create an account, and follow Oura's setup instructions to pair Ring 4 and complete its first sync.
  2. Wear the ring and open the Oura App so the latest measurements reach your Oura account.
  3. Open Gyroscope and add Oura as a data source.
  4. Complete the account authorization and keep Apple Watch or your chosen daily tracker as the primary device for deduplication.

What you get in Gyroscope

The direct connection lets Oura sit beside Apple Watch, workouts, food timing, and other tracked sources on one timeline. Gyroscope deduplicates the result against your primary device, so the ring can add context without becoming a second isolated dashboard.

Gyroscope Sleep Score is built from HRV, resting heart rate, and duration, each compared with your own baseline. Sleep Battery follows a rolling seven-night, quality-weighted sleep debt, and nightly AI sleep insights can surface short positive or warning flags from the combined record.

The value grows when ring data meets behavior data. Last caffeine time, last food time, alcohol, workouts, steps, screen time, and other tracked metrics can be compared against sleep and heart signals with the same A-versus-B correlations engine.

Insights to try

  • Sleep score vs last caffeine time.
  • HRV vs alcohol.
  • Bedtime consistency vs sleep score.

Gyroscope can show correlation strength, the best lag, top-versus-bottom day differences, rolling windows, and outliers once the pair has at least three varying days of overlap. Consistent ring wear and consistently logged behaviors make those comparisons easier to interpret.

Common questions

Does Oura send HRV to Apple Health?

No. Oura's official export list does not include HRV. The direct integration is why you connect Oura itself instead of relying on Apple Health for the complete route.

Should I connect both Oura and Apple Health?

Use the direct Oura integration as the recommended path, and keep Apple Health as your primary-device foundation. Gyroscope deduplicates the combined timeline against that primary source.

Why do Oura and Apple Health show different sleep graphs?

Oura says Apple may round values or display them at different intervals, so its sleep-stage and heart-rate graphs can look different in Apple Health. That display difference does not mean the ring failed to sync.

Does Ring 4 need to be open in Gyroscope?

No separate hardware pairing happens inside Gyroscope. The ring syncs to the Oura App and Oura account, while Gyroscope connects to Oura as a data source.
