Does a Withings scale work with Gyroscope?
Yes. Gyroscope connects to Withings directly. We get weight, body fat, BMI, muscle mass, bone mass, body water, and standing heart rate from every weigh-in, automatically.
Connect your Withings account inside Gyroscope and each weigh-in appears on the timeline within minutes. Apple Health is optional and carries only weight, body fat, BMI, and heart rate.
Applies to: Body Smart, Body Comp, BodyFit, Body Scan, and BodyScan 2. Body composition and the added scans vary by model.

What we get
- WeightEvery weigh-in across the whole scale family.
- Body fat and BMIFrom the composition models.
- Muscle mass, bone mass, and body waterComposition values Withings does not send to Apple Health.
- Standing heart rateOn supported models.
What stays behind
- ECG, vascular age, visceral fat, and electrodermal activityModel-specific scans stay in the Withings app.
How to set it up
- Install the scale in the Withings app. Open the Withings app, open Devices, tap Add, choose Scales, select your model, and follow Withings’ installation guide to join it to Wi-Fi. Take one weigh-in and confirm it appears in the Withings app.
- Connect Withings in Gyroscope. Open Gyroscope, open your data sources, choose Withings, and sign in to your Withings account.
- Check your dashboard. Your next weigh-in should appear on the timeline within minutes, with weight and body fat on the dashboard and the weight grade in Health Score after a few days of readings.

What you can do with it
Weigh in every morning and ignore the daily number.
Same time, after the bathroom, before food or coffee. Day-to-day weight swings a kilo or more on water alone, so the weekly trend line is the number that means something.
The evidence. Zheng et al., Obesity, 2015. A systematic review of self-weighing found that people who weighed themselves more often lost more weight and regained less, with daily weighing the most effective frequency.
Insider tipGyroscope smooths the trend for you and reads your real daily burn from it. That estimate, not a wrist calorie count, is what your energy balance is measured against.
Treat body fat as a trend, not a measurement.
Bioimpedance scales are consistent but not exact. Hydration, a late dinner, or a hard workout shifts the reading. Keep the conditions the same and watch the direction over a month.
Insider tipThe body fat and weight loss guide covers what a realistic monthly change looks like and how to hold it.
Put weight next to what you ate.
A scale on its own tells you what happened. A scale next to your food log tells you why. Log meals from a photo and the surplus or deficit shows up on the same day as the weigh-in.
The evidence. Lichtman et al., New England Journal of Medicine, 1992. People who believed they could not lose weight underreported their food intake by an average of 47% and overreported activity by 51%, which is why the scale, not memory, has to be the referee.
Insider tipRun weight against calorie surplus in the correlations view with a seven-day window. The lag reading shows how many days your body takes to reflect a week of eating.
Watch body fat against training, not against weight.
Muscle gain and fat loss can cancel out on the scale for weeks. Body fat against workout frequency shows the change weight hides.
Insider tipStanding heart rate from the scale is a rough morning check too. If it sits a few beats above your norm for several days, look at sleep before you look at training.
Ask your coach what the numbers mean.
With a membership, an AI coach reads this data every morning and writes you a report before you are out of bed. It answers from your own numbers, not from generic advice. Ask whether your deficit is working and it answers from your weight trend, your logged food, and your training. Health Score shows how your weight grade feeds your overall longevity estimate.
Common questions
Should I use the direct integration or Apple Health?
Use the direct Withings connection. Apple Health is an optional second route that carries weight, body fat, BMI, and heart rate, per Withings’ Apple Health FAQ.
Why is Apple Health not updating?
Withings says iOS may need both apps opened. Its troubleshooting guide recommends opening Withings in the foreground and refreshing the Home screen.
Do all Withings scales measure the same things?
No. Every current model measures weight, but body composition and the added scans vary. Withings’ scale comparison is the authority.
