Designed to help busy people stay healthy

Most people are not short on health advice. They are short on time, and on any way to know which advice applies to them. A normal week has work, family, travel and a hundred small decisions about what to eat and when to sleep. Nobody has room for a second job managing their health.

So V11 does the managing.

Your tracker records the night. Your camera records the meal. Your phone records where you went and how much you moved.

Gyroscope puts all of it in one place. Our goal is to have the most customized app in existence, which knows everything about you and your biology.

Every insight, notification, report and screen in the app is now custom built for you, powered by your goals and biometrics. Even your language.

You can see this in action now every morning when you wake up. Your sleep score is fully customized based on your day and night, not just generic measurements but the most detaileed analysis ever completed of your entire lifestyle—caffeine intake, nutrition timing, brain function, genetics, breathing, even blood levels—all converted into actionable insights.

Research

A meta-analysis of 138 studies found that prompting people to monitor their progress made them more likely to reach their goal, with bigger effects when progress was recorded or reported. (Harkin et al., Psychological Bulletin, 2016). You do not have to be strict about it. Simply seeing your own numbers, regularly, moves them in the right direction.

That is the idea behind everything below. Here is what changed in V11.

Meet your new Sleep Coach: the sleep report with a score of 98 and a highly restorative night

Meet your new Sleep Coach

A watch or typical sleep tracker can tell you that you slept 6 hours and 40 minutes, or worse than usual. It cannot tell you what actually caused it, or what to do about it in your real life. It doesn’t know about the 4pm espresso, or the stressful meeting, or late dinner, or jetlag and travel, or dozens of other factors that may have contributed. That is the job of the new Sleep Coach, which reviews your entire lifestyle and hundreds of Gyroscope metrics to help understand and improve your sleep.

Every morning you get a full report on the night: a personalized Sleep Score, a plain-language summary of what made it good or bad, and one or two things to change for better rest tonight.

Supported wearables include Apple Watch, Oura, Garmin, Whoop and many more — plus any ap that saves to Apple Health, so you can use whatever you already wear. And if your wearable dies or you don’t have one, you can easily detect your sleep directly in the app.

Asleep with a watch on, with last night's sleep, HRV and oxygen shown beside the bed

What makes this different from other sleep apps is what it can see. The report is built from your whole day, as well as the night.

That includes your last meal and how long it took to digest, the caffeine from your coffee or soda, your alcohol (ideally none), steps, workouts, patterns, and more—and even your DNA if you have it connected!

Nutrition Before Sleep: last meal at 6:45 pm, digestion complete by bedtime
Research

A 2023 systematic review and meta-analysis estimated that a standard coffee should be finished about 8.8 hours before bed, on average, to avoid reducing total sleep time. (Gardiner et al., Sleep Medicine Reviews, 2023). Your caffeine cutoff should come from your own intake and personalized timings, not generic guidance.

Recharge your batteries

Even though you now have the world’s most powerful sleep score, the reality is how you slept last night doesn’t matter that much. What matters most is your sleep debt, and overall patterns.

Looking across your past history, the updated Sleep Battery now shows how much recovery you have banked. Just like your phone can charge to 100%, your mind can also charge to 100% and perform at peak power.

Behind the scenes, this looks like proper glympatic drainage, memory consolidation, hormone levels and enough time to do all the maintenance tasks that happen during the different stages of sleep. But you don’t need to worry about or micromanage all those tasks—now you can just check your sleep battery and sleep insights to know what is going on in your body.

We have had sleep debt measurements for a while, but now they are in a more prominent spot at the top of the Mind section in the + button, so you can see at a glance if you are doing on sleep, how the past week is trending, and how last night contributed.

Here’s the good news: your body is designed to get bad sleep, stay up late, do hard things. You don’t need to get a perfect 100 sleep score every night. Getting good sleep doesn’t mean you can never stay up late or miss a few hours or go to a party. What it does mean is that you should aim for staying out of sleep debt, getting good sleep every day that you can, and keep your battery charged for when you need it.

Research

In a 2024 UK Biobank study of about 61,000 adults, people with the most regular sleep schedules had 20 to 48% lower risk of death over follow-up than the least regular, and regularity predicted mortality more strongly than sleep duration did. (Windred et al., Sleep, 2024). A regular bedtime matters as much as a long one. The Sleep Coach watches your timing, not just your hours.

In the trends section (available both in the app as well as on the web dashboard), you can now see more of the long-term changes across all the factors your Sleep Coach is reviewing. This now includes sleep stages, HRV, sunset, bedtime, humidity, bedtime and wake time consistency (arguably one of the most important factors that you have control over), nighttime oxygen, the time of your last meal, phone notifications, last phone pickup, social media usage, and dozens of metrics. Zooming out to the last week, month or year of data can help see the big picture and where things are heading.

Unfortunately, some of these variables are always changing. Maybe your sleep was good, and then daylight savings time changed the clocks. Maybe you were getting morning light in the summer, but in the winter that is gone and your schedule shifts. Or the holidays cause a change in your eating and drinking, reducing your sleep quality. Or things get busy with work, and you are on your computer later at night.

Instead of just hoping none of these things will happen, our goal is to give you the toolkit to see everything that is happening, and manage them proactively—with the help of your coach.

A new calendar and daily routine

V11 puts you in the driver’s seat of your life with new powerful controls over your day. The streamlined routine view lets you visually design your perfect day, with custom timing for bedtime, when to stop drinking coffee (for optimal sleep), when to do your morning routine, when you like to work out, and more.

Set up a morning routine with the exact steps you aspire to... and optionally day and evening too. You can make it a quick check of your data, a data logging expedition to put in new blood pressure and mood readings, or as a space for healthy habits like meditation and exercise. In V11, we’ve added dozens of new configurations, plus the ability to track fully custom habits.

Just a few minutes a day can start to significantly change the trajectory of your life.

Design your perfect day: morning, day and evening routines on a timeline with streaks

Your routine, plans and all your other events now show in the new daily calendar view. This seamlessly integrates your places, sleep, calendar events and inner biology in the same view, so you can see how it all fits together.

With the Gyroscope calendar connected, you can even get reminders about your caffeine cutoff, time for your last meal, or when it is time to start winding down, added directly into your calendar so you know what’s coming up and so the next day’s sleep report gets an optimal score.

Instead of just finding out after the fact that you got bad sleep because you had caffeine too late, or ate food too late now your coach can proactively plan your day and help prevent these issues in the first place!

Day calendar with a coffee stop, caffeine cutoff, routine timings, and biological insights all in the same timeline

Your coach is there to guide you whenever you want. A quick chat about something. Guiding you through your morning or evening routines. Background messages with insights through the day. A fully custom meditation or workout. And much more.

Now in V11 when it is time for a new routine, workout or other action, you’ll see it in your coach tab with a simple card to start the next action.

Research

A 2016 systematic review of 56 studies found that simple self-reported wellness measures reflected changes in training load with better sensitivity and consistency than the common objective measures like heart rate and HRV. (Saw et al., British Journal of Sports Medicine, 2016). A quick daily check-in on how you feel tracks real changes in your body better than most lab numbers do.

Hydration is here

Beyond food, all your drinks can now be easily tracked.

Log a glass or a bottle in one tap, and caffeine from your coffee, tea and soda gets factored into your sleep report automatically.

Now water counts too. Plain water, sparkling water, tap water, the water in every drink, plus the water in your food—all added together for a truly accurate water total. Many other trackers will let you track water, but miss out on the major sources of water in things like coffee, tea, meals and everything else.

Tip: For most people we recommend starting with just logging meals and drinks with significant chemicals—sugar, caffeine, alcohol, etc. For the people who are already logging every meal and want to go even further or want to really understand if they are drinking water, now this new tracker makes it easy to see it all together.

Hydration is much more than chugging water, so with Gyroscope One your sodium and potassium levels are also monitored alongside it, giving you the full picture and a path to maintain optimum hydration.

Automated Apple Health sync

In V11, we’ve been able to fully automated the nutrition syncing with Apple Health, while keeping accuracy high and avoiding the issue of duplicate data that most apps run into. Now you have the option to keep manual control for maximum accuracy and choose specific items to import, or automatically export meals from Gyroscope.

For autoexport, there is now a 5 minute delay to allow for making any necessary adjustments to the meals before it is double checked and sent out by your AI.

Research

In a trial of 1,685 adults, people who kept food records six or more days a week lost about twice as much weight as people who kept them one day a week or less. (Hollis et al., American Journal of Preventive Medicine, 2008). People who keep a food record most days lose about twice as much weight. The record has to be easy, or it stops.

See how strong you are, and catch changes early

Your weight and your steps are pretty easy to measure. Your actual capacity is harder. With benchmarks, you can measure what truly matters.

Benchmarks are short tests you can do at home. Now you can see them all in the + button, across Fitness and Mind .

For the body, this includes ways to measure your strength, endurance, mobility and balance. For the mind, this measures your mental speed, focus, memory, control and stability. Both of these use a combination of industry standard metrics, as well as some of our own creation for a fully comprehensive view.

The cool thing is that none of these require any wearables or special devices—all can be done from home (or a simple gym), so you can measure them weekly or monthly to start seeing your changes.

Most people will have issues or weakness in at least a few categories, so this lets you pinpoint them early and start training to fill those gaps.

As you do more tests, you’ll see how you are currently doing and also what direction you are trending. The point here is not to just ace the test or get a perfect score. It is building your baseline, catching a slide early, and building up your body and mind while you are still young so you can keep them strong forever.

Research

In a 2018 study of 122,007 adults who did a treadmill fitness test at the Cleveland Clinic, the fittest group had the lowest mortality, and the risk associated with low fitness was comparable to or greater than smoking, diabetes, or heart disease. (Mandsager et al., JAMA Network Open, 2018). Fitness is one of the strongest predictors of how long you live, stronger than most risk factors doctors screen for.

For many people, getting older means catastrophic failures of body and mind. But this doesn’t have to be. Some of our members are in their 60s or 70s or beyond, and operating with the benchmarks of a fit 20 year old.

These fitness and mental performance benchmarks are some of the many metrics that now contribute to your...

New biological age and insights

The upgraded Biology section brings Blood, Aging and Organs into one place to give you a full control center for your body. Your biological age and speed of aging now get a more detailed report, showing the current status of your aging and what you can do about it. And now these can be more easily exported as images, for sharing or keeping in your records.

These are estimates built from your own data, and they update automatically every few weeks as you add new blood levels, track biometrics, log meals, or have significant changes in your health.

Biology: biological age 34.8, 1.2 years younger, with organ comparison and speed of aging

For some people, these sort of metrics and scores provide a tangible result from the small actions like working out, meditating, sleeping well, eating healthy meals, and all the other features in the app.

Along with your Health Score, your cellular aging and organ health show how everything connects. These are based on your past days, weeks, months or years of patterns, and are where habits can really start to add up.

Your sleep, nutrition, caffeine, fitness, resting heart rate, blood work and DNA all contribute to these reports, for the most detailed analytics ever possible. Some of this data lives in other apps, like a medical portal or sleep app or food tracker or habit tracker or peronal trainer, but until now each lived in a separate silo and couldn’t be analyzed together.

Share card: biological age 34.6, 1.4 years younger
Research

A 2016 meta-analysis of 46 studies and about 1.2 million adults: each 10 beats-per-minute increase in resting heart rate was associated with roughly 9% higher risk of death from any cause, and 8% higher risk of cardiovascular death. (Zhang et al., CMAJ, 2016). A slowly rising resting heart rate is an early warning most people never see. V11 watches it for you.

Improved Places tracking and accuracy

Now running and other workouts are mixed seamlessly with your places timeline, combining multiple data sources into one unified source of truth. For example, if you go for a run with just your Apple Watch but then your Places tracking is at home, now the two get merged and you can also see a nice minimap of your workout.

In V11, we have rebuilt the Places trackig engine to be even more accurate, use less power, and capture your day even more accurately than before. Over the years, the system has worked quite well but still had a few lingering issues or edge cases. Now we’ve been able to use AI to detect, instrument and solve those issues, with more precise and intelligent tracking.

Visits are detected more accurately, travel between them has crisper lines, and tracking should keep running in situations where previously it may have gotten stuck. Most importantly, all this happens without using any additional battery.

Continuing our theme of customization: now you can also fine-tune more of the tracking options, especially with a setting for radius to choose from 60m to 200m or beyond. This can be adjusted based on the type of city you live in — a really dense place with small locations like New York ot Tokyo may do well with 80m locations. Going 100m down the road means you are at a different shop. Now you can use the admin settings to debug your travel settings and get it to the optimal amount for your location.

For the rare situations where it isn’t perfectly detected, now we are also introducing new tools to split a visit, rename a place, adjust map points, and much more. For example, if you are in nature or at a golf course or some other scenario, you could recalculate just that time with different settings (like a different radius, or different modes) to get your timeline looking how you want it.

This is just a small preview of the new Places capabilities, and we have some big announcements coming here soon...

Walking down a sunny street with the day's route traced behind
Research

A phone sitting on the desk, face down and silent, measurably reduced working memory and attention compared with leaving it in another room. (Ward et al., Journal of the Association for Consumer Research, 2017). The cost of the phone is not only the hours on it. Seeing the real number each morning is usually the whole intervention.

Understand your phone time

In V11, we’re expanding from tracking computer time to also the time on your phone. For many people, this can be many hours a day. Studies and our internal research are showing that this is a significant variable in people’s health.

In the last 5-10 years as phones get bigger, apps get more addictive, internet speeds get faster, algorithms become more effective at hijacking attention, and more.. this trend is only getting worse.

Phone Time: 1h 43m yesterday, with per-app bars

Now you can start to see how productive you are, how much time you spend in particular apps, and how all these variables like sleep are connected.

You’ll be able to review this data every day during the morning routine, and then see how it adds up or changes over time with the updated weekly report, monthly report and trends views—which now include detailed metrics for specific apps and usage patterns.

Just like junk food companies have messed with people’s nutrition and bodyfat levels to sell more junk food, now these digital media companies are wrecking people’s mental focus and mood... to sell more ads. Now with Gyroscope you can have a firewall against these exploits, and keep your body and mind strong with your own targets.

Improved camera

This version makes the tracking even faster, shaving off a few seconds across various steps while keeping accuracy high.

The camera modes in the + button have also been updated with a new easier-to-use interface in V11. Now you can access a bigger dropdown to switch modes, and easily turn the flashlight on or off from the ... button for low-lighting situations.

With Gyroscope Greentooth technology, now we can automatically log data from thousands of devices—even ones that don’t have any bluetooth or wifi sensors, saving you thousands of dollars and making tracking much more easy and fun.

You can configure the camera now to default to Automatic, which allows for easy input of hundreds of different metrics—including weight from a scale, blood pressure, blood levels, food menus, shopping and more—or set it to food for even faster food logging (while requiring manually switching for the other situations).

This is kind of like an automatic vs manual car. One gives more flexibility and ease of use (and ideal for most people), but some may enjoy operating in manual and having more control. Now you have both options easily accessible, and you can see in the top left corner what mode the camera is in.

Tip: If you are taking photos of food, try to zoom out enough or include some non-food items (not a banana) for scale—like your hand, fork, some people even do airpods. This is not required, but can help to make the sizing and measurements more precise, without requiring any typing or additional details.
